At present, we are operating few projects with the objective to foster the transition of the civil society towards green economy and sustainable development. The strength of our projects is the contribution from any individual or united civil societies or any organization who dream to bring changes to the daily lives of people to make the earth as a better place to live in the future. GEC always appreciate spontaneous participation and engagement of people within the civil society for the positive changes! So, Welcome! Be a part of GEC?s initiatives in following ways:
??1) Eco-fashion Project
Eco-fashion is in line with GEC?s mission that is to promote a green lifestyle. A part of our operation of this project is to engage people to experiment and employ green lifestyles in their daily lives. For example, we encourage people to reuse their clothes and belongings, we would engage fashion designers to redesign the recycled old clothes and promote people within the civil society to reuse them through approaches such as organizing a Eco-fashion performance show to promote such causes.
??2) Green Blog Project
The GEC Blog is a new innovative blog system designed to allow users to submit their own blogs online for other users to browse and buy and the contents are focused on the area of empowering and incorporating green style living to our daily life. It would also facilitate the public?s engagement with environmental governance issues by bringing in people from different parts of the world to build and reform in bringing a stronger base of Green lifestyles into the society. Our Promotion of the blog would mainly be through public networks like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and etc.
??3) High Altitude Balloon+Wind Turbine Energy Project (This is a project cooperating with Edris)
Winds are created over the earth due to pressure gradient caused by temperature difference between equator and the poles. We, on the earth, feel a small part of the winds since we are in the lower part of a ?boundary layer?. ?No slip condition? where the air touches the earth, means almost zero velocity therefore it can be concluded that in general there is no wind on the surface compared to higher altitudes. Exceptional cases are where the wind is guided to the surface somehow, places which are known as ?wind prone? areas. Even in this low speed boundary layer of the wind, the energy being carried by the wind can be extracted via wind turbines. This is a base of establishing many wind turbine farms from which a significant amount of energy is created.
Aimed on combining benefits of widely used conventional wind turbines with steadier and more powerful winds at higher altitudes, idea of ?Airborne Wind Energy Systems? (AWEs) was born. The goal, in general, is to harness power carried by wind at high altitudes (High Altitude Wind Power, or HAWP) which can be reached by two different approaches depending to location of generator Airborne Wind Turbines and Kite wind turbine.
??4) Eco-farm or Permaculture Project
We are currently communicating with some local farmers and some companies who are interested to support for this project. In the long term, we would work to get the funds to establish a huge half-global Glass-house to grow cows, sheep, and etc there. Since there is possibility to adjust the temperature of the house, it would make is possible for the animals to eat fresh grass even in the winter time. In this way, it would also resolve the problems of long-distance transport of food and vegetables, it would also facilitate the localization of food production.
Permaculture ? A sustainable solution Permaculture, ?a ?combination ?of ?the ?words ?permanent ?and ?agriculture, ?offers ?a ?unique approach to the practice of sustainable farming, ranching, gardening and living. Permaculture shows how to observe the dynamics of natural ecosystems. We can apply this knowledge in designing ?constructed ?ecosystems ?that ?serve ?the ?needs ?of ?human ?populations ?without degrading our natural ?environment. Permaculture sites integrate plants, ?animals, landscapes, structures ?and ?humans ?into ?symbiotic ?systems ?where ?the ?products ?of ?one ?element ?serve ?the needs of another.
Once ?established, ?a ?permaculture ?system ?can ?be ?maintained ?using ?a ?minimum ?of ?materials, energy ?and ?labor. ?By ?recycling ??waste? resources ?back ?into ?the ?system, ?it ?also ?minimizes pollution. It serves human needs efficiently by incorporating useful, high-yielding species. A permaculture ?system ?is ?designed ?to ?be ?diverse, ?so ?that ?even ?when ?one ?element ?fails, ?the system ?has ?enough ?stability ?and ?resilience ?to ?thrive. ?This ?gives ?it ?greater ?potential ?than ?a conventional system for long term economic stability. A ?cornerstone ?of ?permaculture ?philosophy ?is ?to ?turn ?problems ?into ?opportunities, ?and apparent ??wastes? ?into ?resources. ?Runoff ?from ?stagnant ?manures, ?for ?example, ?can ?be ?a source of groundwater pollution. Feedlots and dairies can prevent this contamination and increase their revenues by composting the manure, growing worms in it, and selling both the worms and the finished compost.
??5) Promotional Green Movie-making Project
The project is in line with our GEC mission to promote green lifestyles, transition the society to green economy and sustainable development. Thus, raising awareness among people within the civil society is critical in this regard. For the moment, we are making a documentary with interviews of a diversity of people within the civil society, researchers, scholars, politicians, UN staff, NGO directors and etc. In the future, we might also organize green movie-making contacts.
